Dear Baby,
This might be the last letter I write to you before you decide to make your debut. The last week in December doesn't sound so bad as a birthday week, right? I mean, who really needs those extra 6 days in January? (Unless you really do need those 6 days in January, then please, by all means, take your time.)
Here are the little things worth noting as of late:
1. We are huge! But completely disproportional. My legs are small still, there's been very little swelling (knock on wood!), and then there's you! It truly looks like I stuffed a basketball up my shirt. It's gotten a few people to giggle, specifically my mommy.
2. You've officially bruised my front left bottom ribs...ouch! We had an ultrasound last week and you were so squished that the technician had to push you around to get the measurements she needed. All of this points towards healthy growth though, and I'll take a few bruised ribs for that any day.
3. My rocking chair is here, and I am dying to snuggle with you in it.
4. You are already so loved! We had our baby shower, and the guests wouldn't stop gushing about how perfect you're going to be. I didn't stop them, because I agree.
5. I feel as if I am the anti-nester. I've been waiting for some huge spike of motivation to clean and organize and prepare, but alas, it has yet to come. All I feel like doing is eating while sitting on our family's beautiful new gray chase lounge sofa. (Which is also going to be a wonderful snuggle spot.) (Also, family rule: no eating on the sofa. Take advantage of it while you're nursing, because as soon as you hit solids you'll be at the table.)
6. Daddy is working so hard for our family already, and I am having some serious stay at home mom guilt over it. Not earning a consistent pay check for the first time in about six years has left me feeling a bit odd. However, your daddy is proud to be providing for our family. He definitely loves us.
7. The hospital bags are being packed slowly, but they're coming together nicely. It's such a surreal task to be completing.
8. If you came today we would have everything necessary for your arrival. How's that for being back in the country for only three weeks? Pretty good, eh?
9. I can't wait to kiss you. And get to know you.
10. I hope you're learning all of the Christmas carols we're singing together. I wouldn't mind if those were the only songs that got you to sleep. And your stocking is green, as chosen by your daddy. Merry Christmas baby!
Love,
Mommy
